Breakdown
I started off doing stuff completely wrong.
I spent too much money and had nothing to show for it.
I bought myself a 'Jeep Explorer'
But then could not find a reason why I had done such a thing.
I was a little spoiled kid.
So I backed my Jeep into a telephone pole.
I was pretty proud when I did that.
I just didn't have any good reasons
For a single thing
I was doing in my life.
I had a girlfriend
But I sure did not know what I was supposed to do about it.
I was a sexy daddy until fate turned against me.

Poster Boy
Sometimes I wonder what makes me 'me'.
What I mean is, what is a 'poster boy'?
If I were an athlete then
I'd have to do something amazing like
Hit a bunch of home runs or
Be a super fielder
Or something.
Maybe it's like some kind of expectation
That all have for me.
I can live up to some expectations
But often it's all a magnificent challenge for me.
Maybe what it is,
Is that life feels like a dream.
I agreed to be a medical experiment
For other people all over the world.
I was some kind of walking miracle.

Flying
Try to relax.
Eat plenty of food now
so you won't need to eat the food
they offer you.
Just drink some tomato juice with no ice.
Hope for no bad weather
and that the flight will last forever.
I might be thinking
I was going up into heaven.
The clouds we would be sailing over
would look like cotton balls. Time to sleep?

Hope the plane has enough fuel
to make it to the destination.

Christmas
Always wanting something
Never quite getting it.
To go where you want
Inside, waiting for the perfect time.
Cannot think too clearly
Interrupting
People's daily business.
Anticipating a vacation
To see brother in Cleveland.
Inside his house
On top of his world, watching the snow fall,
New patterns on his driveway.

Observations on 4th Street
We took our afternoon constitutional today.

I notice that the trees are talking to each other
with their seeds.

They are talking about traveling to northeast cities
and about making more trees.

They smell like dust.
